Security comes in all forms from the outside world, to wireless, to your personal Macintosh all the way down to your iPod touch!

With only my ipod touch in hand, I am able (if I was a bad man) to be outside someone’s home, get onto their wireless network, access their wireless router, and make that router send email reports to me about every website they visit. I would have information such as what computer visited where, how long they were there etc. I could turn off all internet access altogether if I wanted. I could download pirated files through the wireless and get that family/company into all sorts of trouble.

This is just one very simple reason why we need to implement security on all levels, so that only the people we want on our network and accessing our files are the only ones allowed. Passwords are another huge stumbling block when it comes to security. I love it when I go to a clients site and the password is on the monitor in red marker on a post-it note, or under the keyboard.

If anyone is fired or let go due to today’s financial climate, it’s just all too simple to wreak havoc and delete anything you want to out of revenge! (we can laugh, but I have seen this happen twice)
